Yeah, the context I get from "didn't submit a defense" is that Keith knew he wouldn't hold onto the domain, and didn't care. It was a publicity stunt, and it seems a pretty effective one.

==== By "Seems petty to me", I mean it seems something that a legit business with solid ethics wouldn't do, even a very small one. Google wouldn't have done that in their early days, ya know? Yahoo wouldn't have.
I think it helps gives podcasting a bad name, seeing as how well known that cast is.

Ahh. But is it something that Calacanis or (dare I say) Curry would do? Aren't those the new standards for business in the age of web 2.0 and podcasting? ;)
Given the attitude of KATG, I'm not really phased by the squatting and in fact I bet if they did a recount of the events on their show I would probably find it pretty funny.

Wasn't Curry the original cybersquatter with the whole mtv.com?

I'm pretty sure his ambitions for "Keith and the Girl" don't include becoming the next Google or Yahoo. The next Howard Stern, maybe.
I'm pretty neutral on it myself. Would I have done this? No, even if I'd thought of it. But nobody got injured, and the Simpsons Movie hasn't exactly failed in its own publicity campaign. Keith had specific goals and I guess he achieved them, and I'm sure neither you nor I could make him feel any shame about it. And that's fine. It's not my fight.
