Subject: [podcasters] Splashcast media alternative?

Hi! I know there was a lot of discontent with Splashcast Media on
hijacking feeds, but I can't find a better multimedia RSS player for
my business podcast. I like the ability to convert to flash and use
pdf, audio, movie files, etc. MLPodcast and WellcomeMat were
specifically for real estate listings, but not true podcasting.

We're going to use the podcast to present our team, show current
projects and inform clients on latest market stats. The ability to put
the player and perhaps custom skins on websites is important because
we have several sites and blogs.

Does any other podcast/vidcast tool compare for a business
environment?  I liked Blip.tv and a few others, but they don't have
all the features or some of the other podcast content may turn off
clients.

Subject: [podcasters] Re: Splashcast media alternative?

Hi Dee, this is Marshall Kirkpatrick from SplashCast
(http://splashcastmedia.com ).  I'm really glad you like SplashCast's
functionality.  As for alternatives, if Blip isn't quite what you're
looking for, Brightcove, VSocial and Magnify.net are all worth a look
too.  I don't know that any of them will offer you everything you're
looking for, perhaps others on the list here can think of someplace
that will.

As for the feed hijacking concerns - we did our best to respond to
those quickly and implemented a lot of changes in response to
feedback.  A fair number of people were satisfied by our responses and
we've got a whole lot of podcasters participating now.

For follow up, see for example Randy Morin's post at "Destroy All
Malware" titled "SplashCast stops hijacking RSS feeds" at
http://snipurl.com/1ore4

See also these posts on our blog and the comments in response:

http://snipurl.com/1ored
Finally, here's a google search of our site for all mentions of the
podcast support feature's launch if you want to see the conversation
fleshed out all the more: http://snipurl.com/1oreh

If you or anyone else on this list has any more questions about this
or any other part of SplashCast I hope you'll let me know.  We're
having a great time over here helping people publish their media
(including in Facebook now!) and we'd love to see more people from
this list participate.

best wishes,
Marshall Kirkpatrick
